Crossopera - Otherness: Fear and Discovery

Crossopera is an opera project funded by the European Community within the framework of "Creative Europe", which brings together three nations in an international, contemporary music theatre production. All three commissioned works, entitled Dream, The Flight to Egypt and What do you know about the future? deal with the titular theme of Otherness: fear and discovery against the background of contemporary migration movements. The result is three approaches of different forms and styles, which nevertheless have in common the deep longing for a concept of humanity that unites humanity. The authors and composers search for and find contexts that suggest we overcome violence and mistrust and strive for a renewal of the future perspective on the basis of cross-national solidarity by recognising the other as our equal.
