In his new work, the German composer Alois Bröder, already known to Linz audiences for his opera Unverhofftes Wiedersehen, devotes himself to novellas by the Italian Nobel Prize winner Luigi Pirandello, transforming two one-act operas into mirror images of passion in all its shades. Pirandello's work, with its immense diversity ranging from plays and novels to hundreds of short stories, is an almost endless source of ambiguous observations on human nature that needs to be (re)discovered. Oscillating between great emotion and reflections on the unpredictable bizarreness of life, enigmatic humor meets the existential needs of man, so that the astonishing juxtaposition of abysmalness and pleasurable comedy comes to the fore and demonstrates a deep knowledge of human nature.
