Information
Emanuel Gat is one of the most distinguished choreographers of our time. In 30 years as a freelance choreographer, Gat has developed an unmistakable signature that characterises his artistic visions. He is a master of aesthetic purism who imbues his works with an impressive musicality. As a guest choreographer, he has worked with the Paris Opera Ballet, the Sydney Dance Company and the Berlin State Ballet, among others. With TANZ LINZ, Gat is continuing to develop his internationally acclaimed work Lovetrain.
In 2020, Gat created Lovetrain2020, a work for 14 dancers to the wonderful music of the British duo Tears for Fears from the 1980s (‘Mad World’, ‘Shout’, ‘Everybody Wants to Rule the World’, ‘Sowing The Seeds Of Love’). A choreographic ode to the sound and mood of the 80s, as epitomised by the music of Tears for Fears with its utopian drive and epic groove.
The New York Times wrote about Lovetrain2020: ‘It's loud, joyful, physical, close. A celebration of the body, of performance, of life.’
