Information

Welcome to the year 1595! Elizabeth I reigns in England, ruffs and pubic caps are all the rage, and a young author named William Shakespeare is the superstar of all theatrical genres. Meanwhile, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are trying to keep their floundering theater company afloat. In a desperate attempt to outdo Shakespeare, Nick consults a fortune teller who predicts that the future of theater will consist of acting, singing and dancing - all at once! When the Bottom brothers attempt to write the world's first musical, a fierce battle breaks out with Shakespeare, who tries to get rid of the competition by any means necessary.

Something Rotten! is an uproariously funny ode to the musical genre, Broadway sound, tap numbers and chorus line included. After a two-year run on Broadway, Linz musical director Matthias Davids himself is finally bringing the play to the stage of the second musical mecca - Linz!
