Born in 1948, Frank W. Abagnale was a brilliant con man. In his early 20s, he posed as a pilot without ever having had a flying lesson. His Pan Am uniform apparently made such an impression that he was able to fly halfway around the world as a co-pilot and use fake credit cards to support his lavish lifestyle. When he was in danger of being exposed, he changed professions: using the technical vocabulary he had learned in TV series, he now succeeded as a doctor and lawyer and drove the FBI agents who were on his trail almost to madness. Only after years was he caught. After seven years in prison, Abagnale provided his expertise to the FBI. To this day, he works as a security consultant for credit institutions.

Leonardo DiCaprio played the gifted trickster in Steven Spielberg's 2002 film adaptation; the musical came to Broadway in 2011. Book author Terrence McNally is also known in Linz for Ragtime and The Full Monty, composer Marc Shaiman and vocal lyricist Scott Wittman wrote the scores of Hairspray and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - speed, fun and a rousing big band sound from the Bruckner Orchestra are guaranteed.
