Information

Everyone who lived through September 11, 2001 probably remembers that day. However, there are many other stories surrounding the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington that are worth telling. For example, that of the small community of Gander in Newfoundland: on the day of the attacks, 38 planes were diverted to their airport, which meant that around 7000 passengers from all over the world had to be looked after for days by the heroically improvising residents. The event in the remote town impressively demonstrates the selfless and cross-cultural willingness to help that people are capable of in a disaster.

The fast-paced, emotional and humorous musical features an irresistible Celtic folk-rock score that is entirely at the service of the story. The 2017 Broadway production ran for 1669 performances until the end of 2022, making it one of the few shows not brought to its knees by the coronavirus crisis. Musical director Matthias Davids takes on this touching piece as director.
