Information

Perhaps the most beautiful thing about fairy tales is the fact that not only love always prevails, but also the good and pure heart. And so it is for Angelina, who is cruelly mistreated by her heartless stepsisters and constantly called Cinderella (Cenerentola). Yet she never loses her capacity for love and compassion, which ultimately brings her great happiness. In this version, Cenerentola needs no magic and no fairy-tale intervention to prove the clarity of her feelings and the sincerity of her intentions; it is her moral integrity that makes her shine, enabling her to find love and happiness even in the face of great adversity.

In this masterpiece by Rossini, exquisitely crafted cantilenas meet comedy - ranging from earthy humor and social satire to moral undertones, creating characters of striking extremes. At the same time, the opera overflows with exuberant, unrestrained emotion that has the power to break down all barriers.
