Jagged Little Pill (roughly: “bitter pill”), based on Alanis Morissette’s groundbreaking 1995 album, received two Tony Awards and a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album in 2020.
The Healys are a picture-perfect family: mother Mary Jane is recovering from an accident at record speed. Her husband Steve is steadily climbing the corporate ladder through relentless work. Their son Nick has just been accepted to Harvard. And Frankie, their Black adopted daughter, is passionate about poetry and minority rights. Gradually, cracks begin to appear in this flawless surface, and Mary Jane’s determination to maintain the perfect image threatens to tear the family apart.
The Landestheater Linz is proud to present this extraordinary piece - which redefines the concept of the “jukebox musical” - for the first time in the German-speaking world. Its humorous storyline is so seamlessly built around Morissette’s music that the songs feel tailor-made for the narrative.
