The musical based on Roald Dahl’s bestselling novel tells the inspiring story of a girl who dreams of a better life, while also offering a powerful portrayal of childhood rebellion and the power of imagination. Matilda has won nearly 50 awards and delights audiences of all ages around the world with its energetic dance numbers, witty songs, and fantastical characters.

Matilda is a girl of remarkable intelligence and psychokinetic powers. She is mistreated by her uneducated parents but impresses her teacher, Miss Honey, who quickly recognizes Matilda’s extraordinary abilities. However, the headmistress, Agatha Trunchbull, hates children and takes pleasure in punishing anyone who does not follow her rules. But Matilda is as brave as she is clever: the Trunchbull finally meets her match.

A joyful celebration of girl power, for which the Landestheater selected nineteen children from 300 applicants, who will join the Linz musical ensemble in bringing the grand stage of the Musiktheater to life.
